About Me

As a counsellor, I have learnt from many teachers, and from all the main models of psychotherapy. I consider my clients, amongst my teachers, all have taught me and helped me to become the counsellor, and the person I am today.

Twenty five years ago I qualified as a counsellor. I also later qualified as a teacher in the life-long learning sector, as a clinical supervisor and a supervisor for counsellors and groups. But it was nearly 30 years ago that my work with homeless men and women made me truly aware of how fragile the human experience was and ignited my interest in psychotherapy as a career.

Whilst running the night shelter I worked closely with the mental health and crisis intervention teams, the drug and alcohol teams and I also partnered with a service, running groups for users and their dependents. I oversaw the transition from shelter to a fully supported 24 hour hostel. The hostel is still running as an integral part of the homelessness strategy for the area.

In 2002, I was asked to co-tutor on the Introduction to Counselling Course at North Herts College. On moving to Sussex I became a consultant tutor for Brighton University teaching to Diploma level. I ran week-end retreats and workshops on subjects such as grief and loss, anger management, relationships, ethical working and mindfulness. I also privately taught meditation and mindfulness and energy healing alongside my private practice.

In 2012 I co-founded a company called The Evolutionaries and was responsible for designing and running the in-house programmes for our corporate clients. The company folded during Covid, but I have continued to work with my colleagues to independently offer training.

My longstanding interest in Eastern and Western philosophies, and my meditation and mindfulness practice is a strong influence on my life and my work. The World is changing and we are learning so much more about how the mind, the body and the spirit interacts. I truly believe we all have the inner strength and resources to create a better world for ourselves, for each other and for the planet. it can seem like an overwhelming task on our own and it takes courage to ask for help, but together, I truly believe we can make change happen.
